Our Story

Cornerstone Foundation is a local organization founded in the town of San Ignacio, district of Cayo, Belize. Cornerstone Foundation is not affliated with any other organization. Our story started on the 18th July 1999 when we registered as a nonprofit organization with the Solicitor General's office and a Non-Governmental Organization with the Ministry of Human Development.

We are a grass roots organization. Founded on the humanitarian principals of recognizing the specific needs facing our community.Our concerns are for the community and each individual that it encompasses, regardless of his or her condition. We focus on helping people learn where to find resources and how to improve difficult situations.

Cornerstone Foundation believes that every person has valuable skills, even if they are often unknown to him or her. We try to help people use or enhance those skills, which can then be used to generate income or be beneficial in some other way.

We advocate for children and women's rights. We help children in difficult home environments learn life skills and sustainability. We encourage women in violent situations to seek solutions and empower themselves with skills that enable them to achieve a degree of financial independence. We help families afraid of the unknown learn how to care for a loved one living with and often dying from HIV/AIDS.

Cornerstone has worked with hundreds of organizations and individuals throughout the world to make a difference. We are proud of the work we have done and would like to thank the many people and organizations that have helped us work towards a common goal.

Mission

• Our mission is to help people help themselves, and aid organizations and social service offices in meeting their goals. We want to be an active link in the gathering and distribution of information and resources. Cornerstone Foundation strives to be involved in the development and empowerment of our community.
